Introduction Another milestone, another Captain Tsubasa game for us to play. This one pretty much plays as the old NES/SNES games, but regrettably it goes back to the same storylines as in the previous CT game for Playstation 2; it covers the manga storyline from the highschool up to the ending of the Jr. Youth tournament, plus some surprises (no, no Brazil, if that's what you are thinking about). Also, if you were expecting to find a mode that allowed you to play online, you won't find it here; the Wi-fi features shown in the actual box art only allow you to trade items with other people from all over the world... if you want to play against other human players, they'll need to be near you, in the same room. Now, on to what you're really wanting to read; this guide will cover the main storylines (with information on events that you can spot in each match), the in-game menus (I'll provide you short, and comprehensive, information on what each menu is all about), and the special moves that each character can use. As for the in-game items, they aren't covered in this guide since they're acquired after each match in a random way. Keep on reading for all these sections, and for the information you're seeking. 2~. Menus After first reaching the main menu, you'll see four different options, as stated below: 2.1~. Story Mode This option obviously takes you to the main storyline; once you select it, the first option allows you to start a new game, while the second one is used to continue saved games. You have two save slots, so up to two people can play across the main storyline at the same time. For more information on the menus you see here, head to the "Walkthrough" section of this very same guide. 2.2~. Versus Mode This mode allows you play against any team you want, either on your own or against other local players who also have this game. The first option is used to play against CPU-controlled opponents, while the second is used to fight against local physical opponents. After selecting the first option (the second one is pretty much the same, by the way), you'll be able to select the save slot you want to load, which will give you access to new teams. The teams here available are: PAGE 1: Nankatsu Musashi Ito Matsukami Ohtomo Chubu Azumaichi Meiwa Higashi Hanawa Satsunishi Hirado Suwa Furano Minamiuwa Touhou Naniwa PAGE 2: Nakahara Practice Team 1 Germany's best Practice Team 2 England Practice Team 3 Uruguay Practice Team 4 Italy Practice Team 5 Argentina Japan Jr. France Your team Germany First you get to select your team, and then you'll have to select the one of your opponent. Press the first option to confirm (the second takes you back to the previous window) and you'll see some other options, which are: Time of the match (how long the match will last) Handicap (yes or no?) Extra Time (yes or no?) PK: (will you play them or not?) Field: (lets you select the field you'll play in) BMG: (the song you'll hear during the match) Continue After pressing "Continue", you'll have to press "A" to skip the pre-match window, and then you'll be given three other options: Start Team Setup Head back The first option simply allows you to begin your match, while the third one takes you back to the "Versus Mode" very first menu. As for the second one, it allows you to change several of your team's aspects, as shown below. Be aware that these are pretty much the same options you'll see if the match is stopped due to goal, free kick, et al. Strategy Piece Takers Substitutions Formation Captain/Item "Strategy" allows you to change the basic strategy of your team in a wide variety of ways. The listing pretty much lets you do this: Increased Offense Improved Block Increased Defense Improved Specials Improved Passes Improved Basics Improved Shots Improved AP Improved Dribble Improved Cut (Each of this strategies improves the stated statistic, or action, but may also decrease the others). "Piece Takers" lets you select which player is used for certain moments of the game, specifically the Free Kicks, the Penalty Kicks (PKs), Corner Kicks and Throw-ins. "Substitutions" is the option you should visit to select who is - and who isn't - currently in your team. If you can't recognise any names, press "X" and you'll also be shown a lot of information on each player. You can put anyone as a goalkeeper, or a goalkeeper playing as forward... it's all up to you! "Formation" simply shows your current team's formation, and allows you to change it. Finally, "Captain" is the option you should head to if you want to change your current team's captain. This is the only option you can't change during a match, and it gets replaced with "Item" in the story mode. When you're finally ready to play, press "Start" in the previous menu and your match will finally begin. 2.3~. Trade This is the option that allows you to trade your items with other people, either via Wi-fi (first option) or locally (second option). After selecting either one, you can simply go ahead and trade your items. I won't cover the whole procedure (oh, come on, it's not that hard!)... 2.4~. Options The options here available are: SE Volume BGM Volume Crowd Volume Character's Voices (You can enable or disable them) Announcer's Voices (You can enable or disable them) 2.5~. Character stats Now that all menus are covered, I should go and approach the subject of character stats. Several menus let you see the stats of your characters by pressing "X". Then, you can press it again to see that character's special ability (if any), and you can press it yet again to see that character's special move, if any. Finally, press it twice again and you will be taken back to the menu where you can see the stats of your current character, which are: Offense Mentality Defense Dribble Power Pass Physical Shoot Speed Balance Technique AP Stamina That's pretty much it, if you're wondering what each stat was. 3~. Walkthrough So, you're finally ready to play across the story mode. Skip across the storyline by pressing the "A" button, and you'll eventually reach your very first menu. The first option allows you to play against one of several practice teams, while the second one (and third, and fourth, and so on...) takes you to the story-related matches. Take the first one as many times as you want, and when you're finally ready to proceed take the second option for your very first match of the Nankatsu storyline. I'll mention all the events you can spot in your match, but be aware that they aren't shown in the same order as in the game; instead, I decided to include them in a more comprehensible (and, let's face it, easier to follow) way. An important note, too: if you're going for the events, and even if I don't mention so all the time, you should always try to accomplish all events in the order stated in this guide. You should also try to see them all in the same match, or otherwise (i.e. if you do 2/5 events now and 3/5 the next time you play the same match) you won't get a "S" rank. Finally, don't you ever substitute any players unless I tell you to, or you may end up being locked out of an event. Are we clear on all these rules? If so, you can now keep on reading, onto what really matters... 3.1~. Nankatsu Storyline Nothing here, just keep on reading. 3.1.1~. Nankatsu vs. Ito EVENTS: 1- During the match's first half and after you've scored a goal with someone else, pass the ball to Tsubasa in the ground and shoot. You will score; 2- Win by exactly 6-0. This is a pretty easy match, as soon as you get the hang of it. You may want to press "Y" during confrontations, so that you can see the stats of your characters and see if they can manage to beat their current opponent or not. Strike with Kisugi, Tsubasa, Taki and Izawa and you'll do fine, but be sure to recall that in order to gain some extra bonus you need to win this match by exactly 6-0, as they did in the manga. 3.1.2~. Nankatsu vs. Ohtomo EVENTS: 1- When Tsubasa has the ball, have him confront Urabe, Nishio, Kishida or Nakayama and try to dribble (upper option). They'll use their special tackle; 2- When Nitta has the ball, have Tsubasa tackle him (upper option) and you will gain its possession; 3- After "1" has taken place, have Izawa pass the ball to Tsubasa in the opponent's side of the field and have him shoot in the air, he'll end up scoring a goal; 4- After "3" has taken place, and during the match's second half, pass the ball to Tsubasa in the opponent's side of the field and shoot from a ground position. You will suffer a goal; 5- Win by exactly 3-1. This team's strongest player is clearly Nitta, and so you may want to take the ball away from him as quickly as possible, or perhaps try to deplete his AP by forcing him to use his dribble repeatedly. If he indeed shoots at your goals, use Morisaki's special catch. Apart from that, this match is fairly easy. Try to tackle your opponents whenever possible and advance by using either Tsubasa or Taki (his special dribble is quite good); you should strike with Tsubasa and Kisugi for an easier time scoring. As for the events here available, "2" is slightly harder to achieve; I suggest you have Tsubasa (when he has the ball) approach Nitta, then pass the ball to his opponent and finally tackle him. Also, be sure to remember that in order to achieve all the events at once (hence winning a "S" rank in this match) you can't suffer any goals other than the one scored by Nitta's Hayabusha Volley. 3.1.3~. Nankatsu vs. Azumaichi EVENTS: 1- When Tsubasa has the ball, have him approach Souda and dribble (upper option). He will lose the ball to Souda's Kamisori Tackle, and you will also suffer a goal; 2- After "1" has taken place and before having scored any goals, pass Tsubasa the ball inside the opponent's goal area and use his Overhead Shot; 3- In the second half, have Tsubasa shoot from the ground. He will try to use his Drive Shoot, but he won't be able to score; 4- After "2" has taken place, and with the game's score then being 1-1, have Ishizaki pass the ball to Taki; 5- Win by exactly 2-1. As you may be expecting, this team's strongest player is Souda. He is a tough defender, but fortunately he doesn't use his Kamisori Shot all that often. Sure, he can score a goal with event "1", but other than that he won't cause you all that much trouble. Instead, focus on scoring with Tsubasa or Kisugi, one goal in the first half and another in the second half. If you're having trouble with either "1" or "2", I suggest you pass the ball to Tsubasa and have him dribble (or run) across the field to the required areas, then pass the ball to someone else (Taki is a good option) and back to Tsubasa. 3.1.4~. Nankatsu vs. Hanawa EVENTS: 1- After scoring your first goal, have one of the Tachibana twins dribble to your field. They'll try to use their triangle shot from early in the show; 2- After "1" has taken place, when Hanawa is attacking and Ono has the ball, they'll score a goal by using their new Skylab Hurricane; 3- After "2" has taken place, if you're winning 2-1 and the second half begins, you'll see this event where Tsubasa gets hurt (and you will suffer another goal); 4- After "3" has taken place, when the Tachibana twins are attacking you will see this action-packed event; 5- Win by exactly 3-2. Since the Masao and Kazuo Tachibana don't use their special moves all that often, this match is a lot easier than you may be expecting. Strike with all your might - the opponent's goalkeeper is rather feeble - and you'll win, but be sure to follow the events stated above for an easier "S" rank here, and several new (and important) moves, specifically Morisaki's special punch (arg, if we can call that a punch...). 3.1.5~. Nankatsu vs. Hirado EVENTS: 1- Have Taki try to dribble (upper option) past Jitou. You will be scored a goal; 2- When Tsubasa has the ball, have him approach Jitou and shoot. He will miss his shot; 3- When Sano has the ball and is approaching your penalty area, have one of your defenders try to stop him with a tackle (upper option). You will be scored another goal; 4- When Sano has the ball and is approaching your penalty area, this event may take place. You will be scored yet another goal; 5- After "1", "3", "4" have taken place, and you're playing in the second half of the match, have Tsubasa shoot in the ground from the opponent's side of the field. He will score a goal and obtain his Drive Shot; 6- After "5" has taken place and Tsubasa has the ball, have him approach Sano (alone) and select his Drive Shot. You will score another goal; 7- When the game is 3-3, pass the ball to Taki and have him try to dribble past Jitou once again. This time, Kisugi will score a goal on his own; 8- Win by exactly 4-3. The single most important thing about this match is unlocking Tsubasa's fantastic Drive Shot. Without it, you can make it as far as this tournament's finals, but it'll be close to impossible to win it. So, even if you're not looking to grab your "S" rank right away, follow all the events up to "5" and be sure to unlock Tsubasa's new special shot. As for the match itself, the biggest problem is that you have absolutely no room for error here, if you're looking for the "S" rank. Strike with either Tsubasa or Kisugi and you'll do fine, provided you try not to face Jitou in direct confrontations. 3.1.6~. Nankatsu vs. Furano EVENTS: 1- When Tsubasa has the ball and is confronting Matsuyama, pick "dodge" (upper option). He will lose the ball; 2- When Taki has the ball, have him confront Matsuyama and pass (left option) the ball. You'll see Furano's "Avalanche" move; 3- After "2" has taken place, have Morisaki punch (right option, but you can use your special if you have one) away one of the opponent's shots. You will suffer a goal; 4- After "3" has taken place, pass the ball to Tsubasa in the opponent's side of the field, when Matsuyama is just near him, and use the Overhead Shot. You'll score a goal; 5- After "4" has taken place, and in the second half of the match, have Izawa pass the ball to Tsubasa, and then Tsubasa pass it back to Izawa, with both players unmarked. You will score another goal; 6- After "5" has taken place, and when Matsuyama has the ball, have Tsubasa tackle (upper option) him. You'll suffer a goal; 7- After "6" has taken place, and you're in injury time, have Tsubasa (alone) shoot a Drive Shot from your half of the center of the field. You will score a goal. 8- Win by exactly 3-2. Once more, you should do EXACTLY as I tell you above, for the "S" rank and to get everything this match has to offer. Concerning event "3", be aware that Morisaki must be able to punch away the required shot, and so you may want to use his special defense to defend a special shot (yes, it counts, I tried it myself). You may also have some trouble with event number "6", but the easiest way to get that one is to do the same thing I advised you with Nitta - pass him the ball, coming from a Tsubasa placed right in front of him, and then tackle him. 3.1.7~. Nankatsu vs. Touhou EVENTS: 1- Have Izawa pass Tsubasa the ball by the ground (i.e. they need to be near each other), and then use the Drive Shot; 2- When Koike has the ball in your side of the field, this event will take place and Hyuga will score a goal; 3- After "1" has taken place, and when Tsubasa has an opponent right in front of him, use the Drive Shot and you'll score; 4- After "3" has taken place, have Tsubasa pass the ball to Taki; 5- After "3" has taken place and Hyuga has the ball, have Tsubasa approach him. You will be scored a goal; 6- After "5" has taken place, this event will take place after Hyuga tackles the ball out of one of your players and dribbles to your field with the ball. You will be scored another goal; 7- After "6" has taken place and Kisugi has the ball, have him approach Hyuga and try to dribble (upper option) past him. You will score a new goal when Tsubasa counters Hyuga's Tiger Shot; 8- During the game's second half and when Ishizaki has the ball, have him confront Hyuga in Touhou's side of the field. You will score a goal; 9- After "8" has taken place, have Tsubasa (alone) use his Drive Shot; 10- In the first half of extra time, use Tsubasa's Drive Shot (alone) and you will score a new goal; 11- In the second half of extra time, while Hyuga the ball and he is advancing to your goals, have Takasugi confront him; 12- "Win" by exactly 4-4. This one is possibly this game's most difficult (or one of the most difficult...) match. You have to do exactly as I told you, and suffer no goals, to obtain the prized "S" rank here. Fortunately, most of these events are pretty easy to spot, except for number "8", which is... let's put it like this, it took me almost three hours to spot it, mostly because you cannot change Ishizaki's position in the field; so, your best option is probably changing the formation of your team to 3-6-1, which will make Ishizaki a middle-fielder and put him in a much better position to spot that particular event. Since this match is certainly hard and you have no room for error, there is a small bug you should take advantage of: in the screen that appears whenever the match is interrupted, select the third option and you'll be taken back to the main screen, with your game saved in the current position. Next, go back to the story mode and pick the third option instead of the second one (which would be "load"), which will enable you to restart from where you last saved instead of starting it all over, as you'd normally have to do if, let's say, you were scored an extra goal. Don't be bothered if you can't pull all these events at once and in your very first try... you can come back here later (after completing "Shin Captain Tsubasa"'s tournament once, that is) and try to do better, and I really think you'll need it. 3.1.8~. Nankatsu vs. Nakahara EVENTS: 1- Reach the end of the first half after scoring at least five goals; 2- After "1", this happens automatically at the beginning of the second half; 3- Just after "2" has taken place, have Aoi (with the ball) be confronted by either Takasugi or Ishizaki. However, this event will NEVER take place if Aoi has confronted Tsubasa before; 4- After "3" has taken place, throw the ball to the outside of the field by one of the sidelines. This match is unlocked by having a "S" rank in all the other seven matches that preceded it, in case you're wondering about it. Now, this one is obviously quite easy, but the event "3" is quite hard to spot if you don't know what you're doing. The easiest way to prevent Tsubasa from confronting Aoi is to adjust the position (NOT the formation of your team!) of your three midfielders, so that Tsubasa is placed in one of the sides instead of the center of the field. Once you've done that one, the rest is a lot easier. Oh, and no, if Aoi has already encountered Tsubasa there's nothing you can do, you'll have to restart this match all over again. 3.2~. Japan Storyline Nothing to see here, just keep on reading. Oh, and if you want to go back to previous storyline, you can't, for now. You have to complete all the next five matches before being allowed to do so... 3.2.1~. Japan vs. Germany's best EVENTS: 1- When Hyuga has the ball, have him confront Schneider and try to dribble (upper option) past him. You will suffer a goal; 2- Use Nitta's Hayabusha Shot, Souda's Kamisori Shot, Matsuyama's Eagle Shot and Masao's (or Kazuo's) Skylab Hurricane. Wakabayashi will defend them all, and you'll see this event; 3- After "1" has taken place, when Kartz is advancing to your field, you will see an event following which you'll suffer another goal; 4- When the second half of the match is about to take place, and the score is still 0-2, substitute Takasugi for Izawa. Then, when Schneider has the ball, have Izawa approach him and you'll end up suffering yet another goal; 5- When the score is 0-5 and the second half is between minutes 20 and 30, pass Hyuga the ball near the opponent's goal area and you'll finally score a goal; 6- Lose by exactly 1-5. This match isn't very hard, but it's pretty hard to score any goals to Wakabayashi, if you're aiming at doing so on your own. Well, fortunately you don't have to do so, and so you can simply sit back and enjoy the ride you'll be offered here. Concerning event "3", this one tends to happen if Kartz has the ball and is reaching the middle of your field alone. Sometimes he will pas the ball to someone else, and that doesn't count; if that happens, simply get back the ball, pass it back to him and hope for the best. For event "4", apart from the required substitution you may also want to change Izawa's position with Souda's (i.e. move him to position 3), which will make it easier for your to accomplish the task at hand. Also, be sure to notice that after event "4", and before "5", you'll need to suffer two goals. In worst case, pass Wakashimazu the ball and have him walk into your own goals for those two extra ones, but be sure to do it quickly and in time for that last in-match event. 3.2.2~. Japan vs. Italy EVENTS: 1- Make an aerial pass to Tsubasa when he is in Italy's side of the field, and have him keep the ball (upper option); 2- This one happens just after "1", Gino defends Tsubasa's Drive Shot; 3- In the second half of the match, try to pass the ball with anyone in the opponent's side of the field. You will be scored a goal; 4- Substitute Sawada for Misaki. After "3" has taken place, pass the ball to Misaki and have him approach one of Italy's defenders, you'll score a goal; 5- After "4" has taken place and you're in injury time, use Tsubasa's Heel Lift against a defender inside Italy's penalty area. You will score a goal and Hyuga will learn his Neotiger Shot; 6- Win by exactly 2-1. This is an easy match, but try not to underestimate your opponents, since their normal shots can actually score to Wakashimazu. Just in case, always try to prevent them from reaching your penalty area, and if they indeed get there, then be sure to use one of Wakashimazu's special moves to stop the attack. All the events here available are pretty easy to unlock, just be sure to place Tsubasa near the penalty area when the conditions for "5" are about to get in place. Be sure to remember that this particular event unlocks Hyuga's strongest shot, and you may want to have it in the future... 3.2.3~. Japan vs. Argentina EVENTS: 1- When Diaz has the ball, have Matsuyama confront him. You will suffer a goal; 2- After "1" has taken place, when Diaz has the ball have Tsubasa confront him. You will be scored another goal; 3- After "2" has taken place and Misaki has the ball, have him confront Diaz. You will be scored yet another goal; 4- After "3" has taken place, have Tsubasa do a ground pass to Hyuga and you will score your first goal; 5- After "4" has taken place, have Tsubasa do a pass to one of the Tachibanas (Masao or Kazuo). You will score another goal; 6- After "5" has taken place, and in the second half of the match, have Hyuga (with the ball) confront Pascal. When they are alone in front of each other, shoot (right option). You will score a goal; 7- After "6" has taken place, substitute the Tachibana twins (i.e. Masao and Kazuo) for Sano and Izawa. Then, when Diaz has the ball and he enters your side of the field, this event will take place and you'll be scored another goal; 8- After "7" has taken place and Matsuyama has the ball, have him confront Diaz. When they're alone in front of each other, use Matsuyama's Eagle Pass to get the ball to Tsubasa. You will score a new goal; 9- After "8" has taken place, substitute Hyuga for Misugi. Then, have Misugi shoot (right option) from the ground. He will score a goal; 10- Win by exactly 5-4. Another not-so-strong team, and even if you're not following the events you can do well by keeping Diaz away from your penalty area. Now, if you are doing so, you'll probably notice that the first two events may sometimes be slightly hard to spot; if you're having trouble with them, use the same trick from before - pass the ball to the required character, move them just in front of the required opponent and finish by pass the ball to the very first opponent they wish to face... if done correctly, this will lead to the stated event in an easier-than-expected fashion. From a more realistic standpoint, and as stated above, this match is not that hard, and if it weren't for the events I can assure you you'd be able to defeat them without much effort; just - and believe me, I can't stress this enough - be sure to take the ball away from Diaz as quickly as possible, since (either with events or without them) he can cause you some trouble if you give him the opportunity to do so. 3.2.4~. Japan vs. France EVENTS: 1- When Napoleon has the ball, have Souda confront him. You'll be scored a goal; 2- After "1" has taken place, have Hyuga pass the ball to Tsubasa. You'll score a goal; 3- After "2" has taken place and Napoleon has the ball, have Souda confront him inside the penalty area. You'll be scored a new goal, and Souda will get his second yellow card; 4- After "3" has taken place, have Misaki pass the ball to Hyuga. You'll be scored another goal; 5- After "4" has taken place, have Tsubasa shoot (right option) in France's side of the field. This time, you'll score another goal; 6- Substitute Sorimachi for Misugi, and then switch his position with Matsuyama's. After "5" has taken place, and during the game's second half, start by having Tsubasa confront Pierre, and try to dribble past him. Then, get the ball to Misugi and have him pass it to Tsubasa, with both players unmarked in France's side of the field. You'll score a new goal; 7- After "6" has taken place, substitute Izawa and Sano for the Tachibanas (Masao and Kazuo). With both players in France's side of the field, have Misaki pass the ball to Hyuga. You'll be scored another goal; 8- Score a goal on your own, and keep the game 4-4 until you run out of all extra time. The PKs are scored as part of this event; 9- Tie by the game by 4-4. This match is not that hard, just try to keep Pierre and Napoleon from shooting and you'll do fine. Scoring to this goalkeeper is also incredibly easy, even if you're not going to follow the events; Hyuga's Neotiger Shot, for example, can score him rather easy goals. Concerning the events, for "1" and "3" use the same technique as before. I doubt you really need any help for the others, just follow exactly what I tell you to do. 3.2.5~. Japan vs. Germany EVENTS: 1- When Schester has the ball, have Misaki confront him; 2- After "1" has taken place, when Nitta has the ball in Germany's side of the field, shoot with him; 3- After "2" has taken place, When Tsubasa has the ball, have him confront Kartz and try to dribble (upper option) past him; 4- After "3" has taken place, wait until Margus and Jitou are just near each other and pass them a (long) aerial ball. If done correctly, they will both jump at the same time and lead to this event, where you'll end up suffering a goal; 5- After "4" has taken place, and Tsubasa is unmarked in Germany's side of the field, shoot (right option) with him; 6- After "5" has taken place, and Schester has the ball, have someone from your team approach him. You'll end up scoring a goal; 7- After "6" has taken place, and during the match's second half, this one will occur when Wakabayashi first touches the ball; 8- Right after "7" has taken place, move Tsubasa to Germany's side of the field and shoot with him from the ground. You will score a new goal; 9- After "8" has taken place and Schneider has the ball, have Ishizaki confront him. When they're right in front of each other, use Ishizaki's Face Block (his special block, done by selecting the right option) and this event will take place. You'll be scored a goal; 10- After "9" has taken place and Schneider has the ball, have Matsuyama confront him; 11- After "10" has taken place, and you're just in the middle of injury time, have Misaki pass the ball to Hyuga (who should be near Germany's penalty area). You'll score a goal; 12- Win by exactly 3-2. Not only is Schneider the strongest attacker available in this game, but Germany's goalkeeper, Muller, is also the strongest in this game (on par with Wakabayashi, I gotta say). Scoring to this will be very hard, if you are not following the events, and you will certainly have some trouble defending your goals from Schneider's shots. You can probably defend fairly well by now, and you should use all your skills to stop Schneider from ever attacking your goals alone. As for scoring, well, your best options are either attacking with your best shots (i.e. Tsubasa's Twin Shot, Hyuga's NeoTiger Shot, and so on...) from inside the penalty area and hoping for the best. You can also try to deplete Muller's AP and then hit him with random special shots, that seems to work well, too. Concerning the events, as you can see there are plenty that require you to confront character X with character Y. The only tip I can give you is using the save/load method from before (remember, the third option from the screen that appears whenever the ball leaves the field?), so that you won't spend a lot of time attempting to perform what should be seen as a fairly easy task. If you're not being able to do, just reload that last saved point and you'll do fine. Also, event "4" deserves to be mentioned for its difficulty. I gotta tell you the truth, it depends solely on luck, and if you're going for that one try to monitor Jitou's and Margus' positions by looking at the lower screen, where you see the location of all players. Sooner or later, their positions will be on top of each other, and you can then pass the ball to Jitou, so that they confront each other in an aerial battle, as you seek. If you're following the events, this match ends up being a lot easier than if you're doing it on your own... either way, you may want to do the events at least until "8", so that you're winning without have to spend a lot of time (and AP) shooting at Muller. 3.3~. Captain's Team "Storyline" Now that you've completed the main storyline, you gain access to this new option. See that it is even painted in another colour? Well, here you get to create your own captain and have to play with his team, but the catch is... you can also add players to your team that you've defeated in the past; not only weak foes, such as the Hirado's Sano, but also really strong players such as Wakabayashi or Schneider. Anyway, after first selecting this option, you'll be shown a windown with many possible options. This is where you'll pick the blueprint for your captain, i.e. what moves he will have. Select anyone you want and you'll be taken to the place where you select your character's apperance. Your options are: Page 1: Hair style Hair colour Face type Face style CONTINUE (to page 2) Page 2: Face colour Height Voice CONTINUE Once you've created your character you'll be able to play as before. The green option takes you to a practice match, the blue one is your next match. Select it and you'll be taken to your first match. Here, in this pre-match screen, I strongly suggest you start by visiting the options there available: Strategy Piece Takers Substitutions Formation Members Item Captain Shirt Numbers As you can see, these are pretty much the same options as you had before, to which they've added two new ones - "Members" and "Shirt Numbers". Well, the second one simply lets you pick the shirt numbers of every player in your team, while "Members", an option a lot more important, allows you to select which players are in your team, and which ones aren't. Simply select the player you want to get rid of (say, Morisaki) and then pick the one you want to add to your party (you could pick, let's say, Wakabayashi, for obvious reasons). Since this screen also lets you see the face of your characters, and all their abilities (press X), this is pretty easy to do even if you can't read Japanese. If you still need more help with this, read section "Special Moves" of this same guide. Concerning this same option, you should also be aware of something: you can only add to your team notable players, and they'll only have the moves that you've already unlocked. To unlock more players (or new moves) you have to defeat their teams, get "S" ranks in particular matches, and so on. When you're finally done customizing your team, go back to the pre-match screen and pick the very first option to begin your match. 3.3.1~. Your team vs. Ito This one is ridiculously easy. It was already easy with the usual Nankatsu team, but you can now defeat them by more than 20 goals. Simply shoot as often as possible with your special shots and they'll go down without any effort at all. 3.3.2~. Your team vs. Ohtomo Assuming you have a good goalkeeper, this team's only offensive means that can cause you any trouble is Nitta's Hayabusha Shot. Don't underestimate him, or you'll pay the price of a goal; however, the rest of the team is not that strong by now, and even some special shots from outside of the goal area can sometimes be more than enough to defeat them. 3.3.3~. Your team vs. Azumaichi Having in mind that their only good player is a defender, you can also be assured that this one, like all the ones preceding it, will be an easy match. Strike with all your best shots and you'll do fine. 3.3.4~. Your team vs. Hanawa Although this team isn't very strong, you must be careful with both Kazuo and Masao Tachibana. Try not to underestimate them, or you may end up suffering goals. Strike as before - with all your best special shots - and you'll do fine, but try to use your goalkeeper's specials against Masao and Kazuo's special shots, just in case. 3.3.5~. Your team vs. Hirado Another day, another easy match. I'm starting to wonder why are they throwing such easy teams on your path. I mean, they could "strong" in the story mode itself because of their events, but... on their own, these teams are simply too weak, and not even their prized defender, Jitou, can do anything to stop them from suffering a harsh defeat. 3.3.6~. Your team vs. Furano Ah, finally! This one is slightly harder than the five matches before it, but it still won't put you into trouble. Use your goalkeeper's special moves to defend from Matsuyama and Oda's special shots. As for the opponent's goalkeeper, you could either try to shoot near his goal area with all your strongest shots (Hyuga's Tiger Shot, Tsubasa's Drive Shot, and so on...) and not even his special catch will be able to stop your attacks. If you're not using those players, or you simply don't have those moves (no clue on how you'd do that, though), you can try to deplete the opponent's AP, so that he will stop using his special catch, and then throw him random special shots. 3.3.7~. Your team vs. Touhou This is obviously the toughest team you'll fight so far. Not only do you have to be very careful with Hyuga's Tiger Shot, but also with Sawada's supporting special moves and Wakashimazu's strong defenses. I suggest you start by putting strong defenders in your team, ones that can use special (defensive) moves. Whenever Hyuga or Sawada have the ball, use them to quickly grab it back, which will obviously stop their offensive and give you room for a counterattack. As for scoring goals to Wakashimazu, you should use your strongest special shots from inside the penalty area; more often than not, doing so will allow to score, even if your opponent uses his famous Shutou defense. 3.3.8~. Your team vs. Germany's best With Schneider as a striker and Wakabayashi as a goalkeeper, this team can certainly cause you some trouble. As in the match before, take away the ball from Schneider as quickly as possible, and then pass it along to your best forward player, who should quickly advance to the opponent's penalty area and shoot with his best shot. Be aware that, often, Wakabayashi will also be able to stop even these shots, but if you keep on striking with all your best moves eventually you'll be able to score one goal (or more, depending on how you play) to him. Be very careful with Schneider's Fire Shot inside your goal area; your goalkeeper, using a special move, may be able to stop one struck from outside of it, but... it is a lot harder to stop that shot from inside the penalty area. 3.3.9~. Your team vs. Italy A team in which the only good player is a goalkeeper can't certainly be very tough, right? Yes, you're right, and provided you keep on showering this Gino Hernandez with all your best shots from inside of the penalty area, you'll do fine. 3.3.10~. Your team vs. Argentina Their Diaz and Pascal are strong strikers, but the first one hardly ever approaches your goals, and so he won't be causing much trouble. As for his friend, punch (or use a special defense) on his shots and he won't be causing any trouble either. Besides, their goalkeeper is also very weak, and so you can score goals with almost every special shot you throw at him. 3.3.11~. Your team vs. France This team resembles the one you just fought; Napoleon and Pierre have strong shots - which your goalkeeper should use special defenses against - but the rest of the team is not that good, and their goalkeeper will also suffer goals from almost every special shot you throw at him. Feel free to shoot as often as possible, and you'll score more than you're expecting. 3.3.12~. Your team vs. Germany Originally a very strong team, by now you'll probably be able to defeat them without that much effort. Schneider is their most powerful striker, Kaltz has strong supporting special moves and Muller can stop several of your special shots. Concerning a match strategy, you should add the strongest defenders you have to your current team, and have them take off the ball from Schneider as quickly as possible; if he indeed uses his Fire Shot (or Non Fire), be sure to use your goalkeeper's strongest special move against it, or you may end up suffering a goal. As for scoring any goals to Muller, the easiest way to do that is by shooting with your strongest special shots inside the penalty area; if your characters are strong enough by now, you may even try to dribble past this goalkeper with one of your special moves, such as Tsubasa's Heel Lift. Try to shoot often with your best shots and you'll be scoring more than you could expecting against what used to be the best team... 3.3.13~. Your team vs. England There's nothing really noteworthy about this team. Simply throw them all your best shots and you'll win. 3.3.14~. Your team vs. Uruguay Another easy match, simply strike with all your best shots (believe me, you don't even need to use your special shots to score...) and you will be winning without much effort. 3.3.15~. Your team vs. Tournament's 11 Now this is a good challenge... your team versus one composed by 11 best players of the french tournament. Obviously, you should try to use your best possible team, and follow everything you've learned so far, but I guess I can give you a general strategy, too. As you can easily see during the match itself, this team is extremely powerful in the offensive area but not so good when it comes to defending. So, you should take this weakness to your advantage, and you can do that by countering quickly and in a deadly way. Add at least one defender who also has a special pass (such as Souda), and wait for your opponents to approach; once you grab their ball with some sort of special defensive technique, pass that same ball to your strongest attacker (who should also have a special dribble technique, such as Hyuga), dribble until you reach the penalty area and shoot by using your very best special shot. If done correctly (and remember, the area where you send your shot to matters, it makes it easier for a shot to be defended), you'll score a goal. What is most important in this technique is defending the very best you can, in order not to suffer any goals. You may go as far as changing your formation to, let's say, 4-4-2 or 5-4-1 and add extra defensive players to have an easier time defending. Also, don't forget to always use your goalkeeper's special moves whenever the opponent sends a shot towards your goal area, or you may end up regretting it. If you just can't seem to win it, well, I suggest you equip some items to your characters (yes, there are items that indeed matter, such as the ones that raise your AP) and have them replay the last few matches, just to raise their stats. You can also go back to the other storylines and grab yourself some new players (or moves) by achieving any "S" ranks you may have left, and then add those new players (or improved ones that you previously had) to your team. That's it for this mode... 3.4~. Touhou Storyline Nothing to see here, just keep on reading... 3.4.1~. Touhou vs. Musashi EVENTS: 1- Have Sawada pass the ball to Hyuga. You will score a goal; 2- After "1" has taken place, score two more goals with Hyuga. This event will then take place; 3- After "2" has taken place, have someone from your team confront Misugi when he has the ball. You'll suffer a goal; 4- After "3" has taken place and you're in the second half of the match, have Sawada (with the ball) confront Misugi in the opponent's side of the field, you'll end up being scored another goal; 5- After "2" has taken place and you're less than 10 minutes away from the end of the match, have Hyuga (with the ball) confront Misugi; 6- Win by exactly 3-2. This is an easy match. Although most of their players are above average, they won't pose you much trouble. Their only really notable player is Misugi, who also has heart problems, and you can use that flaw of his to your advantage. Go ahead, this is just a videogame, nobody's going to blame you for your horrible act! 3.4.2~. Touhou vs. Matsukami EVENTS: 1- When one of your opponent's players is advancing towards your goals, have one of your players confront him. This event will take place, where you'll end up scoring a goal; 2- When Sawada has the ball, have him confront one of the opponent's players and try to dribble (upper option) past them. He will score a goal; 3- Let one of Matsukami's strikers enter your penalty area and try to shoot unmarked. This will lead to an event with Wakashimazu; 4- During the match's second half, and after "1" has taken place, have Sawada pass the ball to Sorimachi. You'll score a new goal; 5- Win by exactly 4-0. Easy match, if you're following the events be sure to notice that you'll have to score a goal yourself, since the events only give you three. 3.4.3~. Touhou vs. Chubu EVENTS: 1- After Sorimachi has scored two goals, make him an aerial pass (he must be unmarked when he receives it!) and shoot (right option). You will score a goal; 2- After you've scored four goals, pass the ball to Sorimachi and shoot (right option) with him unmarked and from the ground. You'll score another goal; 3- After you've scored seven goals, pass the ball to Sawada and shoot (right option) with him unmarked and from the ground. You'll score yet another goal; 4- Win by exactly 8-0. This team's biggest strenght is the fact that they tend to block most of your shots, making it harder for you to achieve the final result you're given here. If you properly think about it, you just have to score five goals (three others are provided by the events above), and so I suggest you only shoot when the player doing so doesn't have anyone right in front of them, which exponentially reduces the probability of your shots being blocked or cut. Wakashimazu can easily stop most of the opponents' attacks, and so you should mostly focus on scoring the required number of goals, whether you're trying to get the "S" ranking or not. 3.4.4~. Touhou vs. Meiwa Higashi EVENTS: 1- When Sawada is in the opponent's side of the field, have him pass (right option) the ball; 2- In the match's second half, when one of Meiwa's forwards is advancing to your field and he is confronted by one of your players, this event will take place and you'll be scored a goal; 3- After "2" has taken place, and when Sawada is in the opponent's side of the field alone, have him pass (right option) the ball; 4- After "3" has taken place, have Sawada shoot alone. You will score a goal; 5- After "4" has taken place and Meiwa is attacking, this event will take place when Sakamoto (one of Meiwa Higashi's players) gets the ball. You will then score another goal; 6- Win by exactly 2-1. This match is pretty easy, you just need to be careful with the (only) combined special shot that some players from Meiwa Higashi have. That one can actually cause you trouble, and you should use Wakashimazu's best special move if you ever see it. Now, if you're just following the events you shouldn't worry about this, just defend as hard as you can (you may go as far as changing the formation of your team!) and pass the ball ball to Sawada when required. 3.4.5~. Touhou vs. Nankatsu EVENTS: (Before attempting to face this match, be sure to read the notes placed below the listing of all 13 events. If you don't, you'll soon regret it.) 1- With both players in Nankatsu's side of the field, have Koike pass the ball to Hyuga. You will score your very first goal; 2- When Tsubasa has the ball in your side of the field, have one of your players confront him. He will use his Drive Shot, but miss the target; 3- When Tsubasa has the ball in your side of the field, have one of your players confront him. He will use this Drive Shot, and this time he will actually score; 4- As soon as the match continues, pass the ball to Hyuga and have him confront Kisugi in Nankatsu's side of the field. When they're right in front of each other, shoot (right option). You will score another goal; 5- When Sawada has the ball, move him to the middle of Nankatsu's side of the field and pass (left option) the ball. If done correctly, this action will end up scoring a goal; 6- When Tsubasa has the ball in your side of the field, have one of your players confront him; 7- When Tsubasa has the ball in your side of the field, have Takashima (he is one of your defenders) confront him; 8- When Hyuga has the ball, have him confront Tsubasa in Nankatsu's side of the field. When they're right in front of each other, have Hyuga shoot (right option) with his Tiger Shot. You will end up conceding a goal; 9- When one of Nankatsu's players shoots at your goals, have Wakashimazu punch (right option) the ball away. If successful, this will lead to an event where you'll end up suffering another goal; 10- In the match's second half, when Tsubasa has the ball in your half of the field, an event may happen where Hyuga will take it away (you do not have to do anything, it happens on its own) and cause a sideline throw; 11- With both players in Nankatsu's side of the field, have Sorimachi pass the ball to Hyuga. You'll score another goal; 12- When Tsubasa has the ball in your side of the field, have Hyuga confront him, which will lead to the event where Tsubasa and Hyuga use their special shots back and forth; 13- Win by exactly 4-3. There is something very important that I should tell you about this match, before you say that you can't trigger event [insert number here] - some of the events available here can only be triggered at a very particular point in time, and so you MUST do them all in the very same order I'm stating above. This match actually allows you to do, let's say, event "5" before you do event "1", BUT if you try to do so you'll probably end up being unable to ever perform "1". So, and I can't stress this enough, you MUST do all 12 events in the very same order I mentioned them here, otherwise you may end up locked out of one (or more) events! Concerning a match strategy (and if you're not playing for the events), you should try to take the ball away from Tsubasa and Kisugi as quickly as possible, since they have special shots. If, eventually, they manage to use them, be sure to counter with Wakashimazu's own special moves, since his punches are just not enough to stop them. Also, be sure to notice that Taki has a special dribble, and the only way to stop him when he does it is by trying to force him to deplete all his AP, which you can do by throwing as many players as you can in his path. Besides, both Takasugi and Ishizaki have special defensive techniques. Then, every time you grab the ball pass it to either Hyuga or Sorimachi and try to shoot with them near the opponent's penalty area. Hyuga's Tiger Shot is, more often than not, enough to score a goal to Morisaki, but you might as well score as many goals as possible, just in case... Now, if you're going for the events, be sure to follow what I told you above and perform all 12 (well, 13, if you think about the final score too) events in the order I stated. All required goals are scored as part of those events, and so you have absolutely nothing to worry about. 3.5~. Furano Storyline Nothing to see here, just keep on reading... 3.5.1~. Furano vs. Satsunishi EVENTS: 1- When Matsuyama has the ball in your side of the field, have him pass (left option) it. You'll score a goal; 2- When Oda has the ball on Satsunishi's side of the field, have him pass (left option) it. You'll score another goal; 3- Win by exactly 7-0. As you can imagine by looking at the event "3" from above, this match is ridiculously easy. Almost everything you throw at your opponent can score them a goal. Now, unless you're going bananas and decide to shoot from, let's say, the complete opposite side of the field, you will have no trouble winning this match, or accomplishing all the events here this match has to offer. 3.5.2~. Furano vs. Suwa EVENTS: 1- When one of your players has the ball in your opponent's side of the field, have him shoot (right option); 2- With Matsuyama unmarked in the opponent's side of the field, have one of your defenders pass (left option) him an aerial ball. He will score a goal; 3- Don't score any goals with Matsuyama (except, obviously, for the one scored as part of "2"); 4- Win by exactly 4-0. This is another really easy match, and it doesn't really matter if you wanna go for the events or not, since the events are pretty easy to spot, unless you're just too unskilled at this game. For scoring goals, you may want to use Oda, since he is possibly your strongest player, after Matsuyama himself. 3.5.3~. Furano vs. Minamiuwa EVENTS: 1- When Ishida has the ball, have one of your players confront him. You will be scored a goal; 2- Have Matsuyama pass the ball to Oda (who should be in the opponent's side of the field); 3- After "2" has taken place, have Matsuyama pass the ball to Oda (who, as before, should be in the opponent's field); 4- During the match's second half, this event will take place when one of your players meets an opponent in Minamiuwa's side of the field; 5- After "4" has taken place and Matsuyama has the ball (alone) in the opponent's side of the field, have him shoot (right option). You will score a goal; 6- After "5" has taken place and Matsuyama has the ball (alone) in the opponent's side of the field, have him pass (left option) the ball. You will score another goal; 7- Win by exactly 2-1. Another not-so-tough team. Ishida is obviously their best player, but you should also be aware that one of their forwards (the one who scores the goal in event "1") has a special heading shot. The events here available are fairly easy to spot, but if you don't want to use them try to score by using Matsuyama and Oda; they're certainly your best players right now, and so you might as well go and use them for what they do best. 3.5.4~. Furano vs. Nankatsu EVENTS: 1- When Tsubasa has the ball, have Matsuyama confront and tackle him (upper option). You'll get the ball back; 2- When Matsuyama has the ball, have him confront Taki (or Kisugi) and try to dribble (upper option) past him; 3- After "2" has taken place and Matsuyama has the ball, move him to the exact center of the field and shoot from your side of the circle. You will score a goal; 4- After "3" has taken place and Tsubasa has the ball, have Matsuyama confront him and try to block (right option) him. You'll be scored a goal; 5- In the match's second half, after "4" has taken place and Tsubasa has the ball in Furano's half of the field, have Matsuyama confront him. You will be scored a second goal; 6- After "5" has taken place, have Matsuyama confront Kisugi (who should have the ball); 7- After "6" has taken place, have Matsuyama (with the ball) confront Tsubasa and try to dribble (upper option) past him. You will score a new goal; 8- This event will happen just after "7", and you'll score another goal; 9- Win by exactly 3-2. As you can imagine, this is a tough match. Tsubasa can use his usual Drive Shot (but fortunately he hardly ever does so), and Kisugi also has a strong special shot. Taki has special dribble that he often uses, plus Takasugi and Ishizaki have strong defensive techniques. If you're going to try to win this match on your own, you should try to defend as good as you can - going as far as changing your team's formation to a more defensive one - and counterattack with Oda and Matsuyama (his Eagle Shot works just fine). Now, if you're instead going for the events, you'll notice that many of the ones available here lie not on your own skills but rather on luck and (or) in the opponents actions. That's the case of "1", "4", "5" and "6", and the best way to do those is by taking the very same technique I've mentioned before - when Matsuyama has the ball, have him gently pass the ball when the required opponent is in front of him, and then quickly go and confront him. If done correctly (and quickly enough), this will trigger the event. You should also quicksave your game from time to time (or, to be more accurate, perhaps after each of those four problematic events), to prevent major problems, such as the ones that would rise up if you, let's say, accidentally suffered a goal. 3.5.5~. Furano vs. Touhou EVENTS: 1- When Matsuyama has the ball, have him confront Hyuga. When they are right in front of each other, have Matsuyama try to dribble (upper option) past him; 2- When any of your players (except for Matsuyama!) has the ball, have them confront Hyuga and try to dribble (upper option) past him. This time, you'll be scored a goal; 3- When Oda has the ball, have him confront Sawada and pass (left option) the ball; 4- When Sawada has the ball, have Matsuyama confront him; 5- When the score is 2-0, pass the ball to Matsuyama. Then, when he is in the center of the field, shoot (right option). You'll score a goal; 6- When Matsuyama has the ball, have him confront Hyuga and try to dribble (upper option) past him. You'll score another goal; 7- When Sawada has the ball, have Matsuyama confront him. You'll score yet another goal; 8- Win by exactly 3-2. This match's biggest threat is, as usual, Hyuga's Tiger Shot. If you're following all the events, you have some room for error here - you have to suffer one goal to reach the required final result - but that does not change how powerful and dangerous that move is. If he indeed manages to use it, don't forget to use your goalkeeper's special catch against it, to give your team a realistic chance to stop such fierce attack. If you're going for a normal match, try to focus almost all your team in the task of defending... Sawada and Hyuga should be taken the ball as soon as possible, since they can cause you some trouble. Then, when you finally have a ball in your possession, you should try to counter your opponents with everything you've got, ultimately shooting inside the opponent's penalty area with either Oda or Matsuyama. Now, if you're following the events, only "4" and "7" are all that tough to pull, but you can do it by using the same technique as before - get the ball to Matsuyama and then have him pass it to the required character when they're right in front of him. Plus, you don't forget to let Touhou score one goal; the events only give them the first one, and so they'll have to score a second one on their own. 3.6~. Musashi Storyline Nothing to see here, this is just a section divider. Keep on reading... 3.6.1~. Musashi vs. Touhou EVENTS: 1- When Misugi has the ball, have him try to dribble (upper option) past one of Touhou's players. You'll end up scoring a goal; 2- In the match's second half, shoot with any of your players (unmarked and in a ground position). You'll score a goal; 3- When the match is in its 10 final minutes and Hyuga has the ball, have one of your players confront him. You'll score a goal; 4- After "3" has taken place, have Misugi (with the ball) confront Hyuga in Touhou's side of the field. You'll score yet another goal; 5- Win by exactly 4-3. The biggest problem about this match is that you already start playing when you are already losing by 3-0. Fortunately, since Hyuga doesn't have his Tiger Shot yet this match gets slightly easier. Besides, your goalkeeper can probably punch away many of the opponent's shots, but you may not want to overdo it, and you should certainly try to stop them from shooting often; Hyuga is particularly relevant when it comes to their attacks, and since he has a special dribble (the only way to stop it is by trying to have him run out of AP) he can still cause some trouble... Concerning the events, be sure to remember than in order to get your "S" rank you can't suffer any goals. Also, event "4" may be slightly hard to achieve, if you don't know what you're doing. Now, since the time you have to perform this one is limited (i.e. less than 10 minutes), the best way to do it relies on luck alone... pass the ball to Misugi (and remember he is weaker by now, his top-condition time has already ended) and move him to the center of the field; hopefully, Hyuga will soon (it relies on luck ALONE) join him in the line that splits both halves of the field, and you will be able to trigger the required event. 3.6.2~. Musashi vs. Matsukami EVENTS: 1- Play the entire match without Misugi; 2- When Sanada (one of your forwards) has the ball in Matsukami's field, and he is also unmarked, shoot (right option). He will score a goal; 3- When Honma (one of your forwards) has the ball, shoot (right option) and you will score another goal; 4- During the match's second half, have one of your defenders meet a Matsukami player in your own half of the field. When that happens, this event will take place; 5- After "3" has taken place, and the score is still 2-0, pass the ball to Sanada and have him confront one of the opponent's players on their own field. You will score another goal. This team's players are not that big, but apparently they seem to have higher stats than their predecessors. You can easily score if you shoot inside the penalty area with any of your three forwards (or Misugi, if you want to add him to your current team...). The events here available are also pretty easy to unlock, I doubt you'll have any trouble with any of these, just follow the instructions above. 3.6.3~. Musashi vs. Chubu EVENTS: 1- Don't suffer any goals in the entire match; 2- Reach the end of the first half with a 0-0 score. Then, substitute Misugi for your front midfielder (i.e. number 8); 3- During the match's second half, when Misugi has the ball, and he is alone in the middle of Chubu's side of the field, have him pass (left option) the ball. You will score a goal; 4- When Chubu's players have the ball, and they dribble past the middle of the field to your side, this event with Misugi's offside trap may take place; 5- When he is in the middle of Chubu's side of the field, pass Misugi an high ball (he should be unmarked) and use his Overhead Shot. This event will take place and you will score a new goal. Yet again, this is an easy match. Once you had added Misugi to your team, you can use him to score several goals with his special moves; otherwise, you should use your three forwards to do so, since they're the best you have right now, despite their lack of special moves. Concerning the events, the only problematic one is possibly "4", since it seems to be pretty much random. A frequent (but, regrettably, not 100% sure) way to spot it is by passing the pass to Chubu's defenders (when close to all their players are in your side of the field, that is) and wait for them to move past the field's middle line, while dribbling. Also, concerning "5", you can do it by passing a ball from far away (the cursor will become blue-ish) to him, but be sure to remember that he should be totally alone, without anyone marking him! 3.6.4~. Musashi vs. Meiwa Higashi EVENTS: 1- Let Meiwa's Suenada dribble near your penalty area, and approach one of your defenders from him. If done correctly, this event will take place and you'll suffer a goal; 2- After "1" has taken place, and Meiwa takes away one of your balls (be aware that this doesn't work for Sawaki) on their side of the field, this event will happen and you'll suffer another goal; 3- After "1" has taken place and Ichinoise is alone in the middle of the opponent's field, have him pass (left option) the ball. You'll end up scoring a goal; 4- For the match's second half, put Misugi in your team (you can switch him for your team's number 8). Then, pass him the ball when he is in the opponent's side of the field and you'll score a goal; 5- After "4" has taken place and Misugi is alone in Meiwa's side of the field, have him shoot (right option). He will score a goal; 6- When one of your players (except for Misugi!) has the ball, and he is in the opponent's side of the field, let an opponent take the ball away (lower option) from him and this event with Misugi's offside trap will take place; 7- Win by exactly 3-2. As before, this is not a very tough match. Just be sure to take the ball from your opponents as quickly as possible and you'll do fine. Concerning the events here available, they're pretty easy to spot unless we're talking about "6". That one seems to be sort of random, and even the opponent player that leads to it seems to vary. If you're having trouble with this one, I strongly suggest you quicksave your game (the third option from the menu that appears every time the ball leaves the field) and then reload it until you can finally spot it. This particular event often seems to take place when the ball is tackled off one of your players in the middle of the field, but it doesn't ALWAYS happen, and there may be something more to it. 3.6.5~. Musashi vs. Nankatsu EVENTS: 1- When one of your players has the ball, have him confront Tsubasa in Nankatsu's side of the field. You'll be scored a goal; 2- When one of Nankatsu's players has the ball, have one of your players confront him. You'll be scored another goal; 3- After you have suffered two goals (probably after "1" and "2"), this event will take place and Misugi will join your team; 4- When Misugi has the ball, have him confront Tsubasa; 5- When Misugi has the ball in Nankatsu's side of the field, and no one is confronting him, have him shoot (right option) from the ground. You'll score a goal; 6- Have Misugi, in the opponent's side of the field, pass the ball to Sanada (one of your forwards); 7- After "6" has taken place and Misugi is in your side of the field, have him pass the ball to one of your forwards. This time, you will score a goal; 8- After Misugi has been in the field for more than 30 minutes, he will collapse automatically and this event will take place; 9- After "8" has taken place, move Misugi to the opponent's side of the field and try to confront Tsubasa. You'll score a new goal; 10- Win the match while having scored one more goal than your opponent. Your biggest threats in this match are Tsubasa and Kisugi, mostly due to their special shots, which your current goalkeeper is too weak to defend on his own. So, try to keep the ball away from those two players - taking it off them as quickly as possible - and aim for the opponent's goals with either of your three forwards, or even Misugi himself. Morisaki isn't all that strong, and even without using special shots you may be able to score him some goals. A minor note should be given to Taki - as usual, he has a wonderful special dribble, but you should keep on tackling him and, sooner or later, you'll manage to get his ball. When it comes to the events, the ones available here are pretty easy to spot, but you should be specially careful with event "8". This one happens after Misugi has been on the field for 30 minutes, and it'll happen on its own, there's nothing you have to do to make it happen, and you can't prevent it from happening. Afterwards, Misugi will become a lot weaker than before (try playing football in his condition and you'll see how it feels...), and so you may want to substitute him out of the match after you have triggered event "9". If you don't want to, I can tell you that Misugi's special dribble works almost as good as before, and you can then use him as backup for your main strikers. 4~. Special Moves As stated in a previous section of this same guide, after completing the basic storyline you'll unlock a mode where you get to make your own team, now using players whose moves (and identities) you have unlocked in the other storylines. Sooner or later, you'll go to the option that allows you to change your members (I already talked about that one before, remember it? If not, check section "3.3~. Captain's Team "Storyline" of this very same guide) and there you will see a listing similar to the one from below, but DON'T forget that in order to unlock these players you will have to get "S" rankings in the other matches, as stated in several of the previous sections of this guide. Anyway, the players here available are: PAGE 1: Morisaki Kisugi Nakazato Tsubasa Nagano Ishizaki Oda Manabu Iwami Yamamori Takasugi Urabe Taki Kishida Izawa Nishio PAGE 2: Nakayama Matsuyama Nitta Oda Souda Katou Nakanishi Hyuga Tachibana (Masao) Sorimachi Tachibana (Kazuo) Sawada Jitou Koike Sano Wakashimazu PAGE 3: Misaki Napoleon Wakabayashi Margus Misugi Schester Gino Schneider Diaz Kartz Pascal Muller Galvan Ishida Pierre Takei PAGE 4: Dean [Your created player] Wright Robson Victorino Cain Daniel Aoi Roberto Now, on to everyone's special moves and abilities, together with their AP (for special moves) and CP (for abilities) cost. Before I begin, I guess I should repeat it once more: these characters and moves are not originally available, you get them all mostly by completing matches with an "S" ranking, and so... if your favourite character (or move!) just does not show up in your game but it shows up in these listings, that means you haven't unlocked it yet. Don't ask me how to unlock a particular character and/or move, I can't tell you that (otherwise, I would have included that information here, as you can imagine). FAQ~. Frequently Asked Questions Here, you will be able to read about some of the questions that people may be wondering about this game, at least if I consider them to be slightly important. Q: How do I save my game? A: There are two ways to save your game. After a match you'll usually be given two options, and the upper one leads to the place where you can select your save slot, out of two available ones. The other way - which is more of a quick save - can be done by selecting the third option from the menu that appears during matches, whenever the ball leaves the field, but that one only allows one save at a time. Q: You told me to do [insert something here], but it doesn't work! What am I doing wrong? A: Everything that I wrote in this guide was tested by myself, and so I can assure you that everything is correct. However, sometimes I may have gotten conditions to a particular event wrong in a minor way... if you're having trouble with an event that requires passing the ball to a particular player, try having both players in the same side of the field, or doing a short pass (i.e. when the two players are near each other) instead of a long one (i.e. when they're far away from each other, obviously). You may also try to have the required player unmarked (i.e. alone, without any opponents around him) when performing the stated action. Q: How do I unlock [insert team or move here]? A: To unlock a particular team you have to get an "S" rank in the story mode's match against it, BUT some teams are unlocked by defeating different ones. As for moves, get an "S" rank in the match where that particular move is first used by the character. Q: My character doesn't have any special moves! How can he learn some? A: He can't "learn" them. Instead, you can equip your character with up to two objects that give him special moves, those same objects you are awarded in the other options of the story mode. Q: Does this game end after the Japan vs. Germany match? A: Yes. It has some sidestories, some "What if" scenarios, but the main storyline pretty much ends after the match against Germany. Q: Why isn't Hamburgo SV in this game? A: Your guess is as good as mine, but it may have to do with legal issues; if you notice the team's players, you'll see that "Germany's best" is just like the old Hamburgo SV team. You can also contribute your own questions, if I find them relevant enough I will add them to this section. ST~. Special Thanks I want to thank the following people: - Everyone who made this game; - "chitang", "Kaiser" and the website http://tsubasa.wiki.fc2.com for information on several match events I had missed; - Luca N., for a clarification concerning an event on the "Nankatsu vs. Furano" match; - "burty grun", for information on a major typo; - Everyone who likes my works, it's for those people that I like to work in this type of project.
